What the official sources say
- DOMI's best-practices sheet covers Level 1 charging in the parking lane. The city doesn't issue permits for this use, and charging there doesn't reserve the space.
- The cord cover must span the whole sidewalk. If the cord and ramp are ½ in. tall or less, the ramps can be no steeper than a 50% grade (1:2).
- Taller covers need ramps no steeper than an 8.3% grade (1:12), with a 3 ft × 5 ft clear landing on each side.
- Don't block curb cuts, transit stops, hydrants or crosswalks, and keep equipment on private property when you aren't charging.
